His passing cast a solemn shadow over the very community he helped build. In a poignant tribute, members of the Independence Fire Co. (Station 40), where Milbrand most recently served as active Captain, draped a black bunting and placed his turnout gear on their engine as they prepared for their annual block party—a stark reminder of the brotherhood he cherished.
